Communication is essential in every aspect of life, whether personal, professional, or social. It facilitates relationships, promotes understanding, prevents conflicts, and makes it possible to share ideas and emotions, serving as the foundation for the healthy functioning of human interactions.
To illustrate this statement, the NEPUCAST group, developed in an internal Nepuga projectholds a talk about communication and its varying importance in our society.
Placing the topic in the corporate sector, communication is crucial for success. It allows goals, strategies, and how to achieve objectives to be conveyed clearly. It makes different departments easier to understand one another, boosting the organization by solving problems faster and with less negative impact. Communication is essential for the development of a company and its employees.
Right at the start of their presentation, the NEPUCAST members showed a video story about how a lack of dialogue can directly interfere with the success of a task.

The group was made up of Rodolfo Souza from the Academic Department, Daiany Garcia from the Enrollment Department, Antônio Germano from Marketing, Edgar Martins from the Pedagogical Department, and Luiz Américo from IT Technical Support.
Talk on communication and its importance at work
The group's presentation begins with a teaser about how a lack of communication interferes with the progress of activities and the successful completion of tasks at work. The aim of the video was to show how communication tools are essential so that there is no misunderstanding, disagreement, or understandings different from what was established by those involved.
The lack of communication resulted in a delay of days on a task that had already been announced on the Discord platform, but one of the team members did not check the new updates and missed the deadline.
Of course, communication means different things to different people, but it is necessary that, in some way, understanding of what is passed along is achieved.
Communication can take many forms, for example: verbal, oral, written, formal or informal, digital, among others.
The group began the discussion on what each person understands as communication, and different points were raised. Communication is intrinsic to human beings from birth; after all, a newborn child, even if not communicating verbally, uses gestures to deliver the message.
Daiany points out that communication becomes essential in the corporate environment, mainly because we are diverse people from different cultures. “When we enter a corporate environment, this need intensifies, so establishing connections is fundamental. It's a daily learning process”.
Germano raises some questions about how we communicate at work and how that affects the environment. “How my communication can make a difference in my work and for the rest of the team?”
The group discussed this point, revealing that when entering any corporate setting it is necessary to do a “lay of the land analysis” and consider how you will express yourself in that place. This increases the chances of understanding and getting in tune with your coworkers.
Are you a good communicator?
One of the questions sent by participants in the podcast chat was precisely how each person saw themselves in terms of being a good communicator. How they felt when evaluating themselves and whether they could also analyze other people's behavior, understanding how that person would be conveying information, whether verbally, through gestures, etc.
Team member Daiany revealed that in this regard, she had a good command of the technique. “Oh, I have a knack for it. I'm an “FBI” at analyzing certain behaviors. There are many things in our day-to-day that we notice about how that person is without them needing to say it out loud”.
Rodolfo, on the other hand, says he has no difficulty in relationships, but sees no problem in asking the person how they are feeling. “Sometimes we may not pick up on that information, and I believe it is necessary to talk about it so everything is clearer. That way, wrong interpretations are avoided. It's not a sin to ask”.
How does poor communication affect the team?
The NEPUCAST members mentioned some interesting points on this topic. In what ways does communicating poorly directly affect personal and collective performance? The first cause mentioned is problems getting along.
It is natural that in an organization with many employees, everyone's ideas are not always in sync. That does not mean they are wrong, only that they disagree about a particular situation. Regardless of differences, communication is the main point for solving problems.
Another thing harmed by a lack of communication or poor communication is that projects end up being redone. This leads to team demotivation, stress, and even arguments that add no value to the activity.
Another point worth highlighting is team performance always staying the same. It seems like a positive thing, but it can actually become harmful when there is no feedback on the work done, creating stagnation where there is no growth.
The group also pointed to the lack of dialogue between manager and team, difficulty in passing communication along, delays in delivery, and employee dissatisfaction. All of these cases are consequences of poor communication within a corporate environment.
To wrap up, the group closed the presentation with an innovation. An e-book was created and, in the internal chat, a few questions were made available so other employees could share their opinions on how they see communication in the company and, with the results, create tools to improve and evolve the work environment.
