During the Clinical Immersion, held April 13-16 in São Paulo, the dentists in Nepuga's Orofacial and Surgical Harmonization class got plenty of practice on model patients and were able to say which procedure they performed most. The winner was lip filler, which is one of the favorites among Nepuga's HOF students, followed by rhinomodeling.
Dentist Dreyson Nicotari explains that he was able to practice lip filler a lot and left feeling confident to put it into practice in his office, treating his own patients.
“It's the procedure patients ask for most overall, along with botulinum toxin and rhinomodeling. I was already applying toxin to patients in my office because I feel confident, but I didn't feel as confident doing lip filler. After this practice I do. I was able to gain confidence and refine the technique,” he says.
Dentist Diogo Bush de Andrade agrees that lip filler is one of the most requested procedures. He had the chance to follow clinical cases from start to finish during the hands-on sessions. On Friday, he took part in two lip fillers and also in collagen biostimulators.
“I'm also already doing toxin in the office on some patients, friends, and now I was able to get my hands on the patient more and carry out the procedures. I thought this was the best module and practice so far,” he says.

During the hands-on sessions, especially for lip filler, the professionals had the support of partner Estética Bio in supplying well-known filler brands. In the lips, for example, they used Renova Lips, a fully cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler that is smooth and easy to inject, with great results in patients.
The specialists believe that, because it has an almost immediate visual effect and the power to redesign the lips, many patients unhappy with asymmetries, or simply with thin lips, end up deciding to get lip filler.
“A patient who comes in wanting lip filler will rarely do only that in your office. Depending on age and assessment, they may get nasolabial fold filler, botulinum toxin, or rhinomodeling, which is also in high demand, and we learn all of these procedures here in the hands-on sessions,” says Mariana Magalhães Vasti.
Orofacial Harmonization will help professionals live a new work routine
Dr. Dreyson, Dr. Mariana and Dr. Diego have similar stories. All of them already work as dentists. They work a lot and have full schedules, but the procedures they perform have low profitability.
With orofacial harmonization, they intend to expand the range of combinations and procedures they offer their patients, work more freely, without needing so many patients to fill the day's schedule, have more time with family and friends, and a better quality of life.
That is why the in-person hands-on sessions were so important to them. They were able to learn with the Hands On methodology, from assessment and patient care to the humanization needed to handle each specific case, plus insights on the best products, pricing, how to retain patients, the importance of documenting the procedure with photos and tracking before and after.
“Now we're eager for the next module, which will be the surgical one. It will be really cool to see in practice the surgeries we're going to learn in this postgraduate program,”says Mariana Vaz.
