HOF Class Has a Weekend of Intensive Patient Practice During Clinical Immersion

Last weekend (between the 13th and 16th of this month) another very important phase of Nepuga's HOF (Orofacial and Surgical Harmonization) class took place, with four days of clinical immersions full of practice with real patients, under the direct supervision of highly qualified professionals and constant exchanges to further consolidate what has been learned.

Several real patients were present so that no postgraduate student was left out of the practice, quite the opposite. Everyone had the chance to hone their skills and encounter a variety of demands, whether in more mature skin or in prevention cases.

But the concerns treated were not limited to skin aging. The specialists in training were able to put into practice procedures involving: Collagen Biostimulators, PDO Threads, Fillers and technological devices, such as Microfocused Ultrasound and Lasers, each with different protocols and purposes.

From clinical immersions to private practices

Today, many of the students already perform the techniques from the previous module in their offices, and are qualified to work with Botulinum Toxin and Ozone Therapy, not to mention those who have been practicing longer and are taking the specialization to improve even further and be able to offer new procedures in their clinics, or simply to update their skills.

The exchange between professionals with different levels of experience is already, in itself, a very constructive part of these clinical immersion moments – and of the postgraduate program as a whole – so that students can take the opportunity to get real, broad insight into the reality of the market and the situations that can arise in the office.

And besides the faculty who guided the students throughout the entire clinical immersion period, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga was also present, offering valuable contributions.

On this occasion, in addition to high-quality in-depth training, the dentists also have the chance to work on their professional communication, showing their current patients what they are learning and being able to attract new patients while they showcase these new offerings.

And if the procedures were already a success in the clinical immersions – all in high demand – the clinics of the dentists present will certainly take off even more with these new offerings.

What makes an aesthetics specialist even more well-rounded

It is also the moment for dentists to further consolidate their interest in aesthetics practice, gradually understanding their preferences, what they do best, and in which areas they can improve and need more attention.

In this context of practice, the professionals also identify which types of procedures they will feel most comfortable offering in their clinics. After all, every professional has their own strengths and weaknesses, areas where they need to improve and practices they prefer not to perform.

By knowing in depth the field in which they are specializing, these professionals can also refer other colleagues, procedures and equipment. Because a competent professional may not know everything, but will know how to guide their patient in the best possible way.

The contribution of PugaCode

The presence of Dr. Ana Carolina Puga on the second day of practice (the 14th) brought very valuable contributions, especially for botulinum toxin practice, since the mother of aesthetic biomedicine took the opportunity to talk about PugaCode.

The PugaCode “refresher” helps the HOF postgraduate students' activities even more, since the method prioritizes guiding them to the most accurate points (WV 45) for applications that block the patient's muscles for their specific needs, in a safe, effective and economical way.

HOF Postgraduate Program coordinator Dr. Diogo Branco, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga and faculty member Dr. Camila Branco join forces to contribute even more during this clinical immersion.

Dr. Ana stresses that the economy, in this case, is not due to any lack of resources, but precisely to prioritizing efficiency in the procedures.

At that moment, Dr. Camila Branco said that, at the beginning of her career in aesthetics, methods like this would have made all the difference:

“So, with the WV 45 technique, we know exactly the points, with safety and the right amount, and there won't be mistakes. It's a reassurance for anyone who has never done it and is treating for the first time: they can be sure it will work. Regardless of what you've already learned, of what you already know about the maximum and minimum number of points, I'm sure that anyone who has never had contact with toxin will feel very confident replicating this technique on patients.”

Although the module dedicated to toxin practice already took place earlier, it is still very valuable to reaffirm important information like what was explored on this occasion, including exchanges based on the experiences the postgraduate students are having in their clinics.

By following the blog updates, you can see in more detail how these four days of intensive practice went, which, far from being just a review, added a lot to the skills of everyone who dedicated themselves and got their hands dirty, asked questions and experienced this moment intensely.
