Learn How to Build a Successful Aesthetics Team at Your Clinic in 7 Steps

The goal is to turn the health professionals you hire into team members capable of taking your clinic to success. But how do you do that? The idea of this text is to help you understand how to build a specialized aesthetics team to the point of generating the best results!

In this text we do not take the size of your clinic into account. What matters is that it will need an RT (Responsável Técnico, or Technical Manager), who will be accountable for the procedures performed there. If you have a postgraduate degree in aesthetics, you can be that RT, for example.

You will also need someone to handle patient service. At first, if you have few patients, you can do the work yourself. But it's natural that over time you won't be able to keep that role, and then hiring new people will be necessary.

So, whether your team has 2 or 20 people, it pays to focus on the quality of the people by your side. That way, you'll be able to offer the best services, ensure good customer service and add value to your brand.

The 7 Steps to Build a Successful Aesthetics Team

The steps below come from the experience of many aesthetics clinics and business models that are standing out in the Health and Beauty sector. We also gathered information from professionals who shared their stories with us, like Luana:

“She doubled the size of her aesthetics-focused clinic in 1 year and today has a multidisciplinary team made up of 6 professionals from different fields.”  If you haven't read her story yet, click here and read it later. Now, on to the steps!

1 – Technique

The health professional hired for your clinic will need the technique required for each role. If it's a health professional who will perform aesthetic procedures, for example, they'll need to know how to work with the best methods on the market.

One idea is to invest in hands-on courses that include practical classes and ensure these team members will know how to act in various situations, even when complications arise. For example, Pugacode is an extremely safe facial harmonization method.

2 – Communication

The second step is internal communication. This is an important requirement for any company that wants to grow in an organized way, and the health sector is no different. Employees, suppliers and others involved should have transparent communication.

This will improve every relationship in the work environment. It's also worth using internal communication for less formal announcements, in addition to business notices. It's important to think about strategies for communicating well when building an aesthetics team.

3 – Public Speaking

Public speaking is part of communication. But there's a different point here. The idea is to train or prepare employees and team members to learn how to speak with the public so that the company's language is represented in the best way.

In addition, it's worth being careful to avoid slang and filler language that could make a bad impression on your clinic. Of course, common sense is needed because the ideal is to speak the patient's language. The tip is to be careful not to be too informal.

4 – Administration

Another important step: administrative practices, which add to the organization of the clinic and the management of the work team. It's important to make clear which actions involve other areas of the business, such as finance and client acquisition.

This way, administration will be less centralized, while each person involved can have a collaborative view of the clinic's growth. Note that this is not about handing off duties, but about having a well-built, strengthened team.

5 – Training

The first topic was about technique, right? Here, the idea is training in the field itself. That is, knowing the method isn't enough; ideally, the person who will work with you keeps up to date on all the topics involved in an aesthetics clinic.

This way, when you build a well-trained aesthetics team, each member will be able to understand each of the stages and processes. Here, pay attention to the company's everyday topics, such as technology, IT, customer service, etc.

6 – Motivation

Motivation is important for any team to keep up high performance. Or the opposite, too: if things aren't going so well, they need to motivate themselves to get better results with each new day and session that begins.

And the big challenge here is: what can you do to keep the team motivated? There are several techniques that tend to work well, such as incentives through prizes, the possibility of career advancement, paying for trips and so on.

7 – Performance

The last of the steps to build a successful aesthetics team relates to the team's performance. Truth be told: there's no point in motivating and striving if it doesn't generate results. So, use every tool possible to evaluate performance in consultations, sales and customer satisfaction.

It's important to analyze what can be improved and what may be holding you back from success. At this point, be rational, understand mistakes, look for what works and make decisions based on data. Work with the idea of building, that is, build your success!

What's Missing for You to Start a Business in Aesthetics?

If you still don't have your own business because you wouldn't be able to answer for the company, remember that a postgraduate degree in aesthetics can allow that, under the law. That way, you become the RT of the place and the owner of the whole business, opening the door to entrepreneurship.

If you already have the postgraduate degree, the next step is to plan to start this very promising career, which has been appealing to more and more health professionals, and build a TOP aesthetics team. And if you need inspiration, don't worry: we have stories of real people who achieved success. Check them out:
