Devices Like Microfocused Ultrasound Are a Hit Among HOF Postgraduate Students

During a full day of clinical immersion, the HOF postgraduate students had access to different devices, such as microfocused ultrasound, LED light radiofrequency, lasers, and electrocautery. Curious about what a day of immersion with this focus looks like? Just read to the end to learn everything about this part of the hands-on training.

Before treating real patients, there was a lot of training. The immersion day began with explanations of the functions and possibilities of each device, along with safety information.

After the explanations, all the students were able to put what they had learned into practice and, still under the full supervision of the technical leads (RTs), understand each patient's concerns and treat them in a personalized way with the available technologies.

These are the moments when professionals gain the most experience and confidence during the specialization. All the methodological elements are a fundamental part of learning, but getting hands-on in contact with the patient carries the value of the complexity that only that contact provides.

Microfocused ultrasound is a hit in the program and in demand for procedures

And procedures performed with devices such as microfocused ultrasound are in high demand in the market because of the good results for the appearance of the skin: whether reducing spots or scars, treating sagging, or stimulating collagen production, just a few sessions already make a big difference. That is why these procedures are so highly valued.

Interviewed during this period of the clinical immersion module, dentist Paulo Hiddeky comments:

“I think this particular practice was the one that most enriched our knowledge. We treated quite a lot of patients. The market for these technologies is really good; I even posted on my social media that I'm learning to use the Lavieen and already got a response from a friend who is interested, saying that her doctor was charging a lot for the procedure.”

And he adds, about the opportunity to train in using the devices within the postgraduate program itself:

“We are very happy, because it's not a separate course, it's already included in the specialization. So, doing a procedure with such a high cost-benefit, we get excited and want to start practicing soon.”

Ultraformer III and Lavieen in the HOF Postgraduate Program

Paulo mentions one of the most beloved devices on the market today: the Lavieen. Its use has been gaining a lot of traction among patients who want Instagram-filter skin, just without the filter.

With the rise of skin care and the availability of countless cosmetics to leave skin free of spots, acne, and visible pores, the Lavieen comes to simplify skin care with its non-ablative laser technology. Within dentists' scope of practice, it is possible to perform applications on the face to treat spots, rosacea, signs of aging, and scars.

Another standout device included in the clinical immersions is the Ultraformer III, a microfocused ultrasound that works by raising the temperature at the application site in a controlled way, causing injuries from which the tissue recovers and produces more collagen.

In this way, the Ultraformer III is indicated to reduce sagging and localized fat, producing a lifting and rejuvenating effect, and it also contributes a great deal to maintaining other procedures, such as facelifts and double chin liposuction.

Devices like this are usually rented, both because the purchase investment is substantial and so that professionals stay up to date, with access to the new models available on the market.

This and other guidance are also part of this stage of the hands-on training, which, having already been a hit among real patients within the specialization, are set to be an even bigger hit in aesthetic dentists' clinics from now on.
