Last Friday (20th), Dr. Ana Carolina Puga was warmly welcomed at UNESP Botucatu, where she took part in the 26th National Biomedicine Meeting, giving a lecture and a mini-course for Biomedicine undergraduates.
It was not the first time Dr. Ana had been at UNESP Botucatu, but the context was quite different from the first time. As she herself recalled during her lecture, she also visited the university right after the plenary session that made the specialty in Aesthetic Biomedicine possible, back in 2010.
Today, the landscape is clearly very different, given the full consolidation of Aesthetics as a specialty in Biomedicine. So, for an event dedicated to biomedical education, aesthetics naturally could not be left out, and Dr. Ana was invited as a renowned professional in the field.
Over a full day of the event, the mother of aesthetic biomedicine spoke about the creation and training in the field, sharing some of her experience with the professionals in training, to the privilege of those present, who certainly already have some interest in the field but are, at the same time, at a decisive moment of training for their own careers.
It is also a privilege for Dr. Ana, who greatly values classroom experience. With teaching as one of her life missions, every opportunity to share content that is not only meaningful as one more lesson, but for its intrinsic power to transform people's lives.
Each time she is in the classroom, she makes a point of bringing that inspiration, of showing paths and opportunities to health professionals. And this time was no different.
An opportunity to develop essential techniques for aesthetics professionals
In the afternoon, the students present practiced with different techniques to develop skills for applying injectables. Using the eggplant technique (which closely resembles the density and firmness of human skin), the students tested different application angles, following Dr. Ana's instructions and support.
Using slides, the students were also able to practice retro-injection and exercise the amount of product in the application. This is how the development of motor skills and precision, so important for those who want to work in aesthetics, begins.
This was the first more in-depth contact dedicated to aesthetics for most of those present, and everyone enjoyed it a lot, asking questions and uncovering their first, more practical curiosities about this training.
The National Biomedicine Meeting
On the 19th, Dr. Silvio José Cecchi was also present and opened the event by talking about education and specialties in biomedicine. On that occasion, he cited Aesthetic Biomedicine as a highlight, but also addressed other areas, and spoke about the creation of the council (CFBM, a Brazilian professional council), reaffirming the importance of biomedicine and inspiring pride in the field of training and practice.
Now in its 26th edition, the National Biomedicine Meeting aims to bring students and researchers closer to the various possibilities for biomedical professionals within health.
It was 3 days of theoretical and practical mini-courses, lectures, and panels. In its previous edition, the event welcomed about 200 attendees.
