Patients Treated in the HOF Postgraduate Program Report Safety and Satisfaction with Results

Many patients were seen in the HOF Postgraduate Program over the weekend of April 13 to 16, dedicated to the course's clinical immersion.

So while the dentists had the opportunity to practice on real patients, these patients also had the chance to undergo highly sought-after aesthetic procedures and resolve issues that bothered them about their appearance, or even have their first contact with some type of procedure.

During this clinical immersion period, it was the turn of injectable procedures, such as fillers, collagen biostimulators and PDO threads, plus a full day devoted to technological equipment, such as microfocused ultrasound and lasers.

The patients' accounts convey a sense of safety in undergoing the procedures and satisfaction with the results, which often take some time to appear, showing the real effects after swelling goes down or after the tissue develops collagen.

Pharmacist Carolina Mascaro says that at age 33 she noticed certain changes in her skin and saw the Collagen Biostimulator as a good option to address that concern, since it is a procedure with long-lasting results. She comments:

“It already gives a result, because it makes a small filling effect in the area, which ends up going away, because that's not the goal of the application, but it's fantastic, we leave feeling thrilled.”

And, speaking about the safety of having injectable procedures done by specialists in training, she adds:

“The professor and all the students are extremely attentive. Everyone practiced on me, I felt no pain, everyone kept asking if everything was okay, if I was comfortable, so I felt very safe throughout the whole procedure. And now, with my self-esteem sky-high, right?”

Carolina also took the opportunity to get lip filler, one of the procedures the postgraduate students most enjoyed doing during this module of the specialization, developing their techniques with it much further.

Lip filler is, in fact, one of the most requested fillers in dentists' offices, since these professionals already care for the smile, so combining intraoral and extraoral treatments can leave the patient much more satisfied with their new smile. During the clinical immersion, the procedure was one of the favorites among the postgraduate students.

One of the advantages dentists have in aesthetics: anesthesia

Botulinum toxin application is already widespread in the market, but this was the first time trying other types of procedures for many of the patients, who discovered in injectables the possibility of improving features that had been bothering them, such as sagging, dark circles or asymmetries in certain areas of the face.

Talita Miler, a postgraduate student in Aesthetic Nursing, also took the opportunity to have the procedure done by the HOF postgraduate students, and explains why: they can perform the procedures with anesthesia, including the procedure she had, PDO threads.

Pain is a very subjective element that depends on each person's sensitivity. But many patients fear feeling pain and therefore even skip certain procedures that could help resolve issues that bother them a lot.

Even so, procedures like the one Talita had are performed in a slightly deeper layer of the skin, which is a less sensitive region, so many patients report comfort even during injectable procedures performed by professionals who cannot use injectable anesthetics.

“I feel comfortable because I'm also a student, I'm also learning, and I can see that sometimes there are people who are a bit more nervous, but I think that's natural when you're learning,”she says.

Treated by the Mother of Biomedicine, Dr. Ana Carolina Puga, dentist Marcelo also reports that the procedure was very calm, even without anesthesia.

Still on the topic of pain, another patient reports that the only discomfort she felt was the pinch of the anesthesia. Juny Martins had a procedure with a collagen biostimulator, and says she did a lot of research before coming to Clínicas Nepuga, because she likes to understand as much as she can before undergoing a procedure or health treatment.

But Juny says she trusted the HOF class students' care completely, since she is a patient of the course coordinator, Dr. Diogo Branco. So much so that she came back the next day, with another procedure scheduled, this time PDO threads.

We have shared just a few of the many good patient experiences, to show how sought-after aesthetic procedures are among patients treated in the postgraduate program and in dentists' offices, who convey a lot of confidence to patients and find a market that welcomes them with open arms.
